Large Shopping Center Planned for Property Along Scenic Drive

"The Summit" is not exactly what Maricopa County and local residents envisioned for the futurewpeE.jpg (17327 bytes) of this unique Sonoran area when they created the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive in 1963. But growth is a reality of the 90s and the developer, Scottsdale officials and residents face the challenge of creating something that is truly compatible with the area's unique beauty. The Boulders Resort was up to the challenge of protecting roadside plants, views and vistas. What  the Summit will bring remains to be seen. It's an understatement to say that residents are concerned about the future of the area's oldest Scenic Corridor. Some fear that the shopping center may be replacing our scenic area with a "Geography of Nowhere." The developer is gathering community input and no development plans have been filed with the City to date. It is anticipated that plans will be filed in the coming months.

The following information was provided by Donahue Schriber Realty Group.
