Open Space Vista
We don't live in a national park and much of the land that is now open space will be
developed.
This land just east of Pima Road may be spared from development. It is part of
the approximately 19,000 acres that the the City of Scottsdale hopes to add to the McDowell Sonoran Preserve. If this land
is purchased, then this roadside view will be preserved as pictured here. In terms
of offering a visitor a scenic drive, this is the best possible case.
However, much of the land along our scenic corridors will be developed. How can
we give future travelers on our roads a sense of open space and the Sonoran Desert after
development occurs? What can we do to increase the scenic value of roads passing
through areas that have already been developed? The recommendations provide
answers. And, most of the answers are not expensive to implement. Continue this tour
to learn about the positive impact these recommendations will have on preserving our
scenic corridors.
