Drive Signs - Proposed
The signs shown below are the result of a resident initiative. The original design was
done by Susan Conway of Friends. Habitat, a nationally recognized sign company based in
Tempe, produced these final conceptual designs.
Northbound Drive Entry Sign - Proposed
This sign will replace the original wooden sign that was on the east
side of Scottsdale Road south of Jomax. As you drive northbound this sign will be after
the power lines and before the Desert Walking Area.
Southbound Drive Entry Sign - Proposed
This sign will be on the west side of Scottsdale Road just south of
Carefree Highway. This and the northbound sign create "bookends" for the Desert
Foothills Scenic Drive.
Monument Sign - Completed
This is
the enhanced versionof the original Monument Sign. This enhancement was completed in in
1995.

Roadside Identification Signs - Proposed
There will be double-sided signs with the words "Desert Foothills
Scenic Drive" posted approximately every 1 1/2 miles on both sides of Scottsdale
Road. The placement of the northbound and southbound signs will be offset so that the
visual continuity of the drive is not lost - a passing motorist will see a sign every 3/4
mile. These signs will replace the current metal roadside identification signs that were
posted by Friends and the City of Scottsdale in 1995.
