Prop 201, 202 Advocates Ignore
Scenic Drive Sign Ban
October 13, 2002
First, we want to thank everyone who has made the voluntary ban
of political signs on the Scenic Drive a success for six election seasons .
"Everyone" includes the candidates, volunteers and residents who have
supported our efforts to reduce roadside pollution in this popular tourist
location [Read More].
Unfortunately advocates of Indian gaming
propositions have recently posted large campaign signs on the Scenic Drive. We
have contacted the supporters of Arizona Joe's proposition (201) but there has
been no response. Then workers for Proposition 202 posted signs to
match the 201 signs one for one. We contacted Proposition 202 folks and
they apologized and have promised to take their signs down in the next two
days.
Take a ride on the Scenic Drive, Scottsdale Road from Happy
Valley to Carefree Hwy., and see who is following the almost 40 year Scenic
Drive tradition and who is not. We don't like to spend our time and hard
earned Scenic Drive donations getting candidates and proposition advocates to
pitch in and help preserve tradition and the environment. We request the
advocates of Proposition 201 and 202 will take their signs down, immediately.
