Character Area Development Guidelines

The City of Scottsdale has established Character Areas to facilitate the planning process. The Desert Foothills Scenic Drive passes through the Desert Foothills Character Area and residents including Friends' volunteers have played an important role in defining guidelines for future development.  To help you learn about these guidelines, we have included information from a City of Scottsdale pamphlet that describes the Desert Foothills Character Area. Character Area Zoning Overlay

Having guidelines does not ensure that they will be followed and  residents are helping to develop a Zoning Overlay regulation that will apply to the Desert Foothills Character Area.  To help you keep up-to-date on this evolving document, we have posted the following documents related to the overlay.
