Dedication of Don Schoenau's Memorial

RECOGNITION
Collectively we’ve done a great job helping to keep the
Scenic Drive litter-free this year (pun
intended). Let’s gather at the Scenic Drive monument sign, located on the east
side of Scottsdale Road, just south of Jomax, to say “Hello” and
congratulate each other on a job
well done.
MEMORIAL
DEDICATION
We’ll also dedicate Don Schoenau’s memorial.
Don was president of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association, dedicated to
community service, and an ardent supporter of the Scenic Drive.
The memorial consists of a large saguaro, several other native plants,
and a plaque. The saguaro
(foreground above) replaces the large saguaro – a favorite tourist photo
opportunity - that blew down in a storm two years ago.
We’ve invited the Mayor and members of the City Council to attend.

We will also thank Jane Rau for her generosity. Jane, a
Friends volunteer and former president of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association,
donated the saguaro and plants for Don’s memorial from her own land.
