Located in North Scottsdale, Arizona,
the Desert Foothills Scenic Drive is both a landmark and a preservation
effort. Friends of the Scenic Drive, a volunteer-driven
organization, is dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the
Desert Foothills Scenic Drive, which was established by area residents in
1963.
With the support of the City of
Scottsdale, local businesses and residents, Friends of the Scenic Drive
works to preserve the character and traditions of the foothills area and
organizes events to promote desert preservation and
the Scenic Drive. Friends is involved
in the implementation of the $31.5 million voter-approved initiative to
beautify and enhance Scottsdale Road, the northern-most section of which is the
modern Desert Foothills Scenic Drive. Friends also supports adoption of
Proposition 103, Our Land, Our Schools, which will be on the November
4, 2008 ballot for consideration by Arizona voters.
Friends of the Scenic Drive, Inc. is
a division of the Greater Pinnacle Peak Association (GPPA), a non-profit 501
(c) 3 educational organization founded in 1977 and incorporated under the
laws of Arizona. The organization contributes to desert
preservation and wildlife causes and encourages constructive community
activism. GPPA publishes A Peek at the Peak magazine and
e-Peak Newsletter a monthly e-mail newsletter as
complimentary services to the community.
This Website,
which was originally developed
